FAQ

Facelift

What is the best way to add fullness to flat cheeks?

Adding volume to give facial balance can be done many ways. Injectable fillers both temporary or more permanent, fat transfer, and even cheek implants can add the volume you desire. Photos can be taken and computer imaging with 2-D and/or 3-D enhancements can help you decide which option is best for you. Often times a combination of adding volume to your cheeks and decreasing the projection of your nose can help achieve the balance you desire.

Is it possible to do both a hair line brow lift and forehead reduction at the same time?

Absolutley, a hairline browlift will not only raise your brows to a more youthful position and open up the upper eyelid,it will also reduce the forehead at the same time.  Many patients are fearful of a browlift, but this is a great procedure with long lasting results.

I use the Perma Facial Implant for permanent lip augmentaton.  Perma Facial Implant is a patented, FDA approved device.  It is made of a soft, solid silicone elastomer and has a smooth, non porous surface that cannot rupture.  The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia in 30 minutes or less!

I really think that my nose is too big for my face. Should I get a rhinoplasty?

The ideal nose takes into consideration the size and shape of the face, combined with cultural aesthetics. That said, based upon the narrowness of your face, I would recommend your having a slightly narrower nose and slightly more tip definition. When you go to see a surgeon, be sure to see some type of idea visually as to what it would look like and how it would be done. Make sure your expectations are realistic.

If the bridge of my nose is curved does that mean my breathing isn't as efficient as it should be?

Breathing well through your nose is a very complicated thing. Some people have straight noses, but have trouble breathing, while others have very crooked noses and have no problems at all. Since you’re thinking about getting a rhinoplasty anyway, this will be addressed in your consultation with a Plastic Surgeon.  If it is a problem or could become one, surgery for breathing and appearance can be performed at the same time.

I got a face lift 4 years ago. Feeling pressure and inflammation on left side of my face off and on for few months.

The feeling of pressure and inflammation after a face lift could be caused from a deep suture that hasn’t dissolved, or scarring around one of the tiny ducts of the parotid gland. The gland is just below the SMAS layer of the face and if a suture is placed deep into the gland, it may compromise one of the small ducts that drain the parotid gland when it produces saliva. This occurs most often when you eat spicy or sour foods. If it is just when you push on the area, a deep suture that hasn’t dissolved, or is trying to protrude up through the skin, is more likely the cause.

A thorough evaluation usually finds the problem and leads to resolution.

Rhinoplasty

Can my nose be made thinner?

Absolutely! Narrowing the nasal tip cartilages that are giving you the bulbous tip and narrowing the nasal alae which cause the overall tip to look wider than you want, can be performed with a rhinoplasty. The profile can be maintained and the nose can be smaller and thinner. The amount of correction is limited by the thickness of the skin, and the strength of the underlying cartilages. Those things can be assessed during your consultation and should be discussed to give you realistic expectations.

I want a nose job but just my tip but not sure how I want it to be shaped

I’d recommend having some imaging done prior to your rhinoplasty. Imaging is when you alter the appearance of the nose on the computer and show the patient some suggestions as to what should be done to the nose.

Exercise after Rhinoplasty?

In our office we tell patients the following: Low impact activities for the first 4-6 weeks and high impact thereafter. The reason is that you don’t want to risk having any bleeding into the surgical area which is more likely the first month or so.

Can I get lip implants if I am am 3.5 month post restylane injected?

I would recommend that you wait for the filler to go away… and it may take 6-9 months or until your lips are soft. Then would be the best timing for your lip augmentation.

Mini Lift

22 yr old female, best way to add fullness to flat cheeks?

Adding volume to give facial balance can be done many ways. Injectable fillers both temporary or more permanent, fat transfer, and even cheek implants can add the volume you desire. At 22, you have much too much skin tone and texture to be a candidate for even a mini facelift which would not solve your issue anyway.

Photos can be taken and computer imaging with 2-D and/or 3-D enhancements can help you decide which option is best for you. Often times a combination of adding volume to your cheeks and decreasing the projection of your nose can help achieve the balance you desire.

I am 35 and would like to know if I am a candidate for a minor facelift?

As I always say….It’s all about elasticity! You have wonderful elasticity at your age and excellent skin. I would never recommend any more than liposuction of the neck and jawline and a tightening of the muscle under your chin. You can get the results that your desire with minimal down time using local anesthesia in an in-office procedure. You are a perfect candidate for the neck and jawline liposuction with submentoplasty.
