Should I get a BBL treatment?
If you are looking for a non-invasive way to erase the signs of aging on your face, neck, arms, and hands, broadband light treatment (BBL) may be for you. BBL is a photo rejuvenation procedure that promotes collagen production and changes skin cells at the molecular level to give skin a more youthful and vibrant appearance.
What Can BBL Do for Me?
BBL uses intense pulsed light to treat a variety of skin conditions, including:
- Reducing the appearance of active acne.
- Reducing the redness associated with rosacea.
- Eliminating sun spots and lesions associated with sun damage.
- Removing unwanted hair.
- Improving the firmness and texture of skin.
Who is a Candidate for BBL?
Most of our patients choosing BBL are looking for a fast-acting treatment to improve the overall appearance of their skin. The procedure is ideal for busy professionals and people on the go since it can be completed in as little as 15 to 30 minutes, and there is minimal to no downtime following treatment. Many of our BBL patients are wanting to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles associated with aging or dark spots and other types of sun damage resulting from an active lifestyle.
As a general rule, patients taking Accutane or other medications that increase sensitivity to light may want to delay BBL treatment temporarily. Individuals with highly tanned skin or dark skin tones may not be candidates for BBL treatment. The higher levels of melanin in the skin increase light absorption, which can lead to hyperpigmentation. Patients are normally advised to refrain from tanning for at least a month prior to treatment.
In most cases, patients notice a vast improvement in the appearance of their skin after just one treatment; however, some patients do require additional treatments to achieve their desired results. Your doctor will work with you to customize a treatment plan based on your needs and goals. The doctor may also combine BBL with other aesthetic procedures to enhance the results.
