What is a rhinoplasty or nose job?
A rhinoplasty, or nose job, is a very delicate procedure that reshapes, reduces or augments a person’s nose. Dallas facial plastic surgeon Dr. John Standefer has performed hundreds of rhinoplasty procedures creating beautiful results and making his patient’s faces more proportionate and balanced. He is experienced at removing bumps, narrowing nostril width, changing the angle between the tip of the nose and the mouth and correcting deviated septum and sinus conditions.
The rhinoplasty procedure is known to be one of the most difficult facial cosmetic surgeries to perform, but as a trained facial plastic surgeon and ENT, Dr. Standefer is highly skilled at rhinoplasty procedures. He is board certified with the American Board of Otolaryngology (Ears, Nose and Throat) and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Standefer has performed many revision rhinoplasty procedures.
How is it performed?
After evaluating each patient’s needs and aesthetic goals, Dallas rhinoplasty surgeon, Dr. Standefer, determines exactly how he will perform the rhinoplasty. Using local anesthesia and sedatives for relaxation, small incisions are made inside the nose. The bone and cartilage are refined to the shape, symmetry and angle desired. If a patient has a deviated septum, which causes the bone or cartilage to obstruct the nasal cavity, Dr. Standefer will perform a septoplasty. It is common that patients report improved breathing following this procedure.
How much does it cost?
The cost of a rhinoplasty or nose job varies by patient. During a complimentary consultation, Dr. Standefer can determine your exact needs and our consultant can provide pricing. Financing options are available.
What can I expect after a rhinoplasty?
Many of Dr. Standefer’s rhinoplasty patients experience a low amount of pain during the first 48 hours. Some bruising and swelling is common, but typically resolves within 1-2 weeks. The bruising can usually be covered with makeup after the first week. Immediately following a rhinoplasty, the swelling causes many patients to feel like they have nasal congestion and it is difficult for them to breathe through their nose, but these symptoms resolve within a week. Normal sense of smell returns within 4-6 weeks. Patients can return to their normal physical activities after 3-4 weeks, but should avoid contact sports and activities for at least 8 weeks. Desk activities, such as computer work and paper work can be resumed 2-3 days after surgery.
