What is cheek augmentation?
High cheekbones not only provide you with aesthetic beauty, but they also support the tissues of your face that naturally descend with the aging process. If you have flatter or thinner tissues in your mid-face, have lost your “apple cheeks” due to weight loss, or have simply lost the fullness your cheeks once had, cheek implants will enhance your appearance.

A cheek augmentation, which adds volume to the cheek areas or middle of the face below the eyes, creates a youthful, beautiful appearance. Defined cheekbones usually make the face look slimmer and accentuates a patient’s facial features.

How is a cheek augmentation performed?
Cheek augmentation is an outpatient procedure and can be performed surgically using facial implants or non-surgically using fillers. During your consultation, Dallas cheek augmentation surgeon Dr. John Standefer will determine which method best suits your unique needs.

Fillers
When facial fillers such as Bellafill or Radiesse are used for a cheek augmentation, numbing cream is applied and lidocaine is administered to the patient’s face where the injections will be inserted. Fillers are injected using very small needles and molded into the desired contour and shape. The numbing agents allow the procedure to be performed in 15-30 minutes with little to no pain. Results are immediate and more permanent when Bellafill is used. Results are immediate and typically last up to a year.

Facial Implants
When facial implants are used, local anesthesia and sedation are administered. The implants are gently inserted through small incisions inside the mouth underneath the upper lip. Stitches are used to seal the incision. The results are permanent, but can be modified or removed if desired.
