Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure performed to achieve one or both of the following results: adding volume or fullness to the breasts and/or reshaping the breasts. If you naturally have small breasts or have lost breast volume over time, breast implants can increase the overall size of your breasts. There are a variety of implants used depending on your body and your wishes for reshaping your breasts. Breast implants are also used to change the symmetry and distance between your breasts – aka cleavage.
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a procedure that will raise and reshape breasts that appear sagging or deflated on the chest. Lifts can be performed with or without implants. Overtime a woman’s breasts may begin to loose its elasticity and begin to look saggy. This change can occur because of age, heredity, gravity, fluctuations in weight, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. A breast lift can change a woman’s figure by giving it a more youthful and uplifted look.
A breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, can make the breasts smaller and lighter by removing the excessive breast tissue, fat and skin. This procedure helps to make the breasts look more proportionate to the woman’s body and alleviate the discomfort and even pain that often comes with overly large breasts. Women with overly large breasts can have issues with their health along with emotional problems and physical pain. The excess weight can also impact how active a woman’s life can be. If you were born with breasts that are overly large and they have had a negative impact on your life, a breast reduction can help.
Breast revision surgery can be a terrific option for patients who have experienced implant ruptures, implant malpositioning, capsular contractures, or improper breast shape. If your implant has ruptured, you no longer like the size of your breasts, if the implant has shifted, or the tissue of your breasts has changed causing them to sag, breast revision is the way to fix them.
Breast reconstruction is possible for women who have had a breast or breasts removed due to cancer, a congenital deformity or who have a breast deformity caused by trauma. If any of these situations have happened in your life, there are several surgical procedures that can be completed to restore the look of your original breast.
